Methodologies

ATLANTIS follows a site-specific holistic approach to elaborate the technical and economic feasibility of repurposing open-pit coal mines into hybrid pumped hydro storage systems. The project comprises five work packages.

The first (WP1: Project management) and the last work packages (WP5: Dissemination of project results) are designated to the project coordination and aim to ensure a fruitful cooperation between the beneficiaries and dissemination of results. The research work within the ATLANTIS project is divided into three work packages, which are: WP2: HPHS design, operation and power grid integration WP3: Integrative environmental risk assessment WP4: Economic risk assessment and socio-economic footprint.
